Ship Bottom, receiving its name from a mysterious ship wreck in 1817, is home to wide, white sanded beaches that are very populated in the height of summer. Quite the bustling town, it can be referred to as the “Gateway to Long Beach Island”, as it is the only way on and off the island. It is home to many year-round residences as well as businesses. Be sure to walk the shoreline searching for shells, sand dollars, sea glass, and other natural treasures. It offers easy access to the bay via the boat ramp located on 11th street. With many events year-round, such as a Fourth of July parade, Christmas parade, 5k runs and more, there is plenty of family friendly fun to be had!
