Harvey Cedars was originally known as Harvest Quarters, a small whaling town on the north end of island. It was home to one of the first lifesaving stations. Harvey Cedars is home to few year-round but the population swells in the summer. Known for being one of the quieter towns, the beach and bay are easily accessible and are rarely crowded. Harvey cedars offers a recreational park on the bay known as Sunset Park. It is family friendly, complete with a baseball field, a playground, basketball, tennis, bocce ball, and volleyball courts. It also offers public restrooms and showers. The most wonderful part of the park is the gazebo and dock which is a relaxing spot to sit and enjoy the breathtaking bay views and sunsets.
